Back to back Indian cinema has lost its  two amazing bollywood personalities namely  Irrfan  Khan and Rishi Kapoor. Both were suffering from cancer, former with neuro endocrine tumor and the latter with leukemia(blood cancer). Looking into the past we have realized that that many of our prominent artists, actors, politicians have lost their life battling cancer. What is cancer? How is it caused?
Let's have a discussion..
Human body is made of cells. These cells join to make tissues, tissues make organs, organs make organ system and finally is the human body formed. Growth is the process through which these cells accumulate mass and increase in physical size. But at times these cells divide recklessly paving way for mutation(a change that occurs in DNA sequence, either due to mistakes when DNA is copied or as a result of environmental factors such as UV rays and cigarette smoke) to occur. This mutation leads to formation of malignant cells or the cancer cells causing a tumor to occur.
Since in most of the cases cancer cells does not create any pain in the beginning stages many even do not know  if they have cancer until they have any pain.
TREATMENT:
1. SURGERY
In case the tumor is slow growing the doctor will advise you the surgery. which would remove the tumor.
2. RADIATION:
Fast growing tumor can be treated through radiation which mostly uses the X- rays but at times protons or other types of energy can also be used.
3. CHEMOTHERAPY
It uses powerful chemicals to kill the fast growing cancer cells.
But this chemicals cannot distinguish between the benignant and malignant cells as a result all the fast growing cells is killed by chemotherapy( hair cells grows fast so you might have noticed that people under going chemotherapy usually lose their hair)
Other side effects are skin rashes, nausea, vomiting et al.
WHAT CAN WE DO ?
Till now doctors have not found a hard and fast solution to treat cancer. But one must go for regular check-up so that one can know in advance if one is diagnosed with cancer even though no symptoms have been shown yet.

(tried to explain in the most simple language)
